Mumbai: A special NIA court on Saturday ordered the Talooja jail Superintendent to release activist Gautam Navlakha, an accused in the Elgar Parishad-Maoist link case.
Navlakha will be released from jail but he will be put under house arrest as per the conditions of bail granted by the Supreme Court which on Friday ordered his release within 24 hours after rejecting a NIA plea which raised issues of his safety in the house arrest facility.The Supreme Court had earlier allowed his plea for house arrest.
In this regard, the special court also accepted veteran actor Suhasini Mulay's surety. She had told the court that she took responsibility that the accused would appear before a court whenever directed.Following the release, Navlkha will be guarded by police round the clock.(UNI)
