Raised by Ultra couple in forest, Inter pass Maoist leader surrenders before Telangana DGP

Hyderabad: Maoist leader Ravula Ranjith alias Sreekanth surrendered before Telangana Director General of Police Mahender Reddy here on Wednesday.
Ranjith, who also served as Chief of forest battalion committee ,was unhappy with the present functioning of the outfit and informed the party about his decision to surrender.
He appealed to the other Maoists, through Mr Reddy, to surrender.
 
The DGP at a press conference held at Police Headquarters here said Ranjith, also the platoon party commander has decided to surrender before the police after realizing that there was no space for revolutionary politics and revolutionary tactics at the present digital revolution.He handed over a Demand Draft for Rs 4 lakh to Ranjith towards his rehabilitation and Rs 5000 for immediate expenses.
 
Mr Reddy said, Ranjith was born to an underground couple, subscribed to revolutionary ideology in the year 1998 in Dandakaranya forest and brought up in South Bastar division of Chhattisgarh state.
 
Since his childhood he was taught about revolutionary ideology and waging war against the State with an objective of establishing New Democratic Revolution (NDR) through the barrel of gun.
 
He studied from Class-I to Class-VI in the CPI (Maoist) established Janatana Sarkar School at Puttem alias Puttapadu area, CG, where he was indoctrinated with the revolutionary ideology from his childhood.
 
Later, his father Ravula Srinivas secretly got him admitted in Kakatiya School, Nizamabad where he studied up to Class X and he joined underground armed formations after completion of his Class-X in April 2015.
 
Throughout his lifetime, he educated the tribals of Dandakaranya forest area on the need to advance the New Democratic Revolution (NDR) and was instrumental in propagating the ideology of CPI (Maoist) along with his father from April 2015 to Novermber 2017 (prior to joining in battalion), Mr Reddy said.
 
The DGP said, on the advice of his father he joined in CPI (Maoist) Battalion in November, 2017 and worked in second Platoon of first Company as Party Member.In November, 2019, he was elevated as Platoon Party Committee (PPC) member, the top police official added.(UNI)
