Mumbai: Zonal Director of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Sameer Wankhede was on Friday removed as lead investigator from the cruise drug case involving Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan.

According to sources, Wankhede has been replaced by senior IPS officer and Deputy Director General (Operations), NCB Sanjay Singh.

The IRS officer landed in controversy after NCP leader and Maharashtra Minister Nawab Malik accused him of forging documents to get a government job and lying about his religion. Malik further levelled allegations of bribe and extortion against Wankhede, who denied them all.

Wankhede claimed that the move came after he demanded a Central probe in the cruise drug case. (UNI)
