Sasikala cracks the whip, sacks ex-Pondy MLA Om Sakthi Sekar from party

Chennai: Cracking the whip against the rebels, AIADMK General Secretary V K Sasikala today sacked former Puducherry MLA Om Sakthi Sekar from the primary membership of the party. Sekar, a former MGR Peravai functionary and a loyalist of late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, thew his weight behind caretaker Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, who had raised a banner of revolt against the AIADMK leadership stating that he was 'forced' to tender his resignation as CM to pave the way for Sasikala's takeover.
 

In a statement here, Ms Sasikala said since Sekar had acted in a manner causing disrepute to the party and violated the party principles and discipline, he was expelled from the primary membership of the party from today. She also urged the AIADMK cadres not to have any links with him. He was the second AIADMK functionary to be sacked from the primary membership, after Sasikala expelled Party's IT Wing Secretary ‘Singai’ G Ramachandran for his support to Mr Panneerselvam. (UNI)
