Mumbai: The BSE Sensex on Monday opened at a historic high at 60,303.79, surging 255 pts on the strength of Materials, Energy,Auto and Bankex stocks.
The Nifty too moved up by 46 pts at 17,900.15.
The Sensex registered the days high and low at 60,412.32 and 60,182.87 pts respectively.
The Nifty recorded the days high and low at 17,943.50 and 17,891.75 pts.
The Mid Cap fell by 0.29 per cent while Small Cap rose by 0.23 per cent.
In 30 scrips, 16 advanced while 14 declined.
The gainers were Maruti Suzuki by 2.73 per cent to Rs 7140.05, HDFC Bank by 2.07 per cent to Rs 1634.50, M & M by 1.64 per cent to Rs 791.65, Bajaj Auto by 1.49 per cent to Rs 3864.95 and SBI by 1.47 per cent to Rs 447.30.
The losers were HCL Technology by 2.14 per cent to Rs 1328.55, Tech Mahindra by 1.84 per cent to Rs 1486.55, Infosys by 1 per cent to Rs 1745.85 and Dr Reddy's Lab by 0.89 per cent to Rs 4750. (UNI)
