New Delhi: The JD(U) Chief and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today insisted that the decision to ally with the BJP was taken with a great deal of deliberations and hence if Sharad Yadav wanted to take an "independent" view, he was at liberty to do so. "The party has taken a decision... I did not take the decision on my own. Now, if he thinks he wants to keep an independent track, he is free to do so," Mr Kumar told reporters after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi here.

Sharad Yadav has opposed JD(U) chief's decision to form Government in alliance with the saffron party and join the BJP-led alliance NDA in the national polity. Earlier in the day, Nitish Kumar also met BJP Chief Amit Shah. The Chief Minister today described his meeting with the Prime Minister as a "courtesy call" and said by August end, he will have another meeting with the Prime Minister wherein all developmental issues to be discussed.
