Thanjavur: In a suspected case of female infanticide, the body of a newborn girl baby was found in the flush tank of a toilet at Thanjavur Government Medical College Hospital on Saturday.
Police sources said a sanitary worker while engaged in cleaning the toilet of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), noticed that the flush tank of the toilet was not releasing water. When the worker opened the lid of the flush tank to clean it, she was shocked to find the body of a newborn girl stuffed inside it.
Based on a complaint from the hospital authorities, police have registered a case and are investigating. (UNI)
