Telangana DCA seize 'Saheth Care Powder' used for making misleading advertisements for Diabetes-BP treatment

Hyderabad: Telangana Drugs Control Administration (DCA) on Tuesday said it has seized 'Saheth Care Powder' at Hikma Sehat Care in Golkonda here which is used for making misleading advertisements claiming to treat "Diabetes" and "Blood Pressure".
 
On credible information, DCA officials raided Hikma Sehat Care on Monday and detected 'Saheth Care Powder' which bear misleading claims on the label that it treats diabetes and blood pressure, which is a contravention of the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954, DCA Director General VB Kamalasan Reddy said a release here.

Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954 prohibits advertisement of certain drugs for treatment of certain diseases and disorders, he said that ' No person shall take part in publication of advertisement regarding the diseases/disorders indicated under Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954.
 
During the special drive, the DCA officials detected 'Saheth Care Powder' which is manufactured and marketed by Hikma Sehat Care and bear misleading claims on its label. During the raid, the officials seized 60 bottles of Saheth Care Powder.
 
Advertisement of a medicine for treatment of the 'Diabetes' and 'Blood Pressure' is prohibited under Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954.
 
Persons who make misleading advertisements regarding drugs for treatment of certain diseases and disorders are punishable under Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954, with imprisonment which may extend to six months, or with fine, or with both.
