Thane man held for murdering pregnant wife

Thane: A 30-year-old youth has been arrested from Ambadi of Bhiwandi taluka in the district for strangulating to death his pregnant wife and burying her, police said on Wednesday. Deputy SP of Ganeshpurt KD Katkar said accused Kalpesh Thakre was married to Manisha Thakre (25), who was pregnant.According to Mr Katkar, Kalpesh was interested in having a child, however, Manisha was opposed to it. 

On March 12, the accused filed a complaint, stating that Manisha was missing since March 10. After investigation, police learnt that he strangulated and buried her. Police exhumed the body, which was highly decomposed and sent it to JJ for post-mortem, police said. An offence under Sections 302 and 201 of IPC was registered with the police, who were further probing the matter, they added.(UNI)
