Lucknow:Three teachers have been suspended and a case against them along with one another was registered for sexual harassment and teasing, besides culpable homicide for forcing a school teacher to commit suicide in Bahraich.

The teacher ended his life due to the insensitiveness of the local police who did not take cognizance of excesses by the accused forcing the victim to commit suicide.

According to police reports, the Basic Siksha Adhikari in Bahraich, Udai Raj, after learning that a case has been registered against three of the teachers had placed all of them under suspension, on Thursday.

The accused teachers along with one another had reportedly harassed an assistant teacher Akansha Mishra and threatened her husband Neeraj Chaubey (31) also a teacher in the same government school after the latter warned of action.

Additional SP, Kunwar Gyananjay Singh said that soon after learning that Chaubey, who consumed poison on Tuesday night succumbed in the Civil Hospital in Lucknow on Wednesday night, they registered a case and launched a hunt for the accused. Sources said that all the accused were belonging to a particular community and absconding to evade arrest.

It may be mentioned that the sensational incident was reported from Bahraich and the victim took the step just as the accused harassed his wife and he got no relief from the local police whom he informed several times. Chaubey was living in a rented house in the Kaiserganj area of Bahraich.

Reports said that Chaubey was upset for the last few days as half a dozen local goons which included three of his junior colleagues started to harass his wife whenever she went out to school or any other work. Even during the absence of Chaubey, they camped near his house and passed lewd remarks.

When several of his complaints lodged with police went unheard and the accused also started threatening him for informing the police, Chaubey reportedly went into depression and on Tuesday night, he wrote a suicide note mentioning all the above reasons and claimed that he was ending his life by consuming 200 grams sulphas. After finding him in an unconscious state, the victim was rushed to the local Community Health Centre from where he was referred to Lucknow.(UNI)
