UP: 33 held for raising anti-national slogans in Jaunpur (VIDEO)

Jaunpur: Thirty three people were arrested allegedly for raising anti-national slogans during the procession on the 10th day of Muharram in Mirganj area of Jaunpur district in Uttar Pradesh.
 
Police sources said here on Tuesday that that a procession was taken on the 10th day of Muharram in Godhana Bazar on July 29 during which anti-national slogans were raised.
 
"A video of the incident went viral on social media on Monday after which the police lodged cases against 33 anti-social elements under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC)," they said.

The sources also said that on the basis of the FIR, 33 people were arrested and have been sent to jail after being quizzed. "Efforts are being made to nab others visible in the viral video," they said.
 
Circle Officer (CO) Atar Singh said that the matter was being investigated and those who raised anti-national slogans were being taken into custody.
 
He said that stern action will be taken against those involved in anti-national activities.
 
Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Shailendra Singh said that evidence was being collected against the anti-social elements. (UNI)
