Uttar Pradesh: 60-year-old temple priest beaten to death in Deoria

Deoria (UP): A 60-year-old temple priest was beaten to death allegedly over an old dispute in Bhaluani area of Deoria district here in Uttar Pradesh, police sources said here on Wednesday.
 
Police sources said that Ashok Chaubey, a resident of Tenua Chaubey village, worked as an assistant priest in Baruipur Human temple. "On Tuesday night Chaubey was assaulted by some persons over an old rivalry. When his son Sandeep came forward to save his father he too was thrashed," they said.
 
Police sources said that the injured were taken to Deoria medical college where doctors declared Ashok Chaubey dead.
 
Superintendent of Police (SP) Sankalp Sharma said that Ashok Chaubey had a dispute with the family of Hausala Paswan over DJ. "Chaubey was thrashed in connection with this dispute. The deceased sustained head injury in the incident and died. Three suspects have been detained and the matter is being investigated," he said.
