4th ODI: Tahir racially abused by a fan at Wanderers

Johannesburg: Imran Tahir, a Pakistan-born South African cricketer was racially abused by a fan during the fourth ODI against India. Cricket South Africa confirmed the incidence on Monday. The fan who abused Imran Tahir was immediately taken out of the stadium, when the matter came into the notice of concerned officials, after the Imran’s complaint."According to ICC Anti-racism code, fans who indulge in racist conduct are to be ejected from the stadium and can face further sanctions and criminal prosecution," CSA said in a statement.

According to South Africa team manager, Mohammed Moosajee Tahir was abused by one person throughout the match and there were some hostile verbal exchange between the duo, when Tahir reported the matter to security staff, during the match.The CSA statement further said that Tahir wasn't part of the playing XI for the fourth ODI, was continuously abused by a fan whenever he entered and left the field for drinks duties. While ruling out any sanctions on Tahir. 

“He did nothing untoward, the manager said the investigation, as mentioned in the CSA statement, is to get a better idea of what transpired and inputs from the security personnel,” Moosajee said.Earlier, also he has been racially abused. During the 2015 World Cup, the fans at Manuka Oval had a run in with Tahir with one of the fans shouting "Why don't you go stroke your pet camel?" at him. Tahir had faced such a incident at the same venue during the 2014 tour as well.(UNI)
