Abhishek Sharma has etched another record to his name in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. While opening for Punjab, he scored a blistering century in just 28 balls against Meghalaya.

Chasing a target of 143, Abhishek equaled Gujarat opener Urvil Patel's record for the fastest century in 28 balls, which he set against Tripura last week. Sahil Chauhan's century for Estonia (27 balls) still holds the record for the fastest T20 century.

Abhishek's explosive innings included 11 sixes and 7 fours, and with the help of this blistering knock, Punjab chased down the target in just 9.3 overs with seven wickets to spare. Abhishek also broke the record for the most T20 sixes hit by an Indian in a calendar year, surpassing Suryakumar Yadav's record. While India's T20I Captain had hit 85 sixes in 41 innings in 2022, Abhishek smashed 86 sixes in just 38 innings this year.
