Mumbai: Chennai Super Kings batter Ambati Rayudu on Saturday announced that the Indian Premier League 2022 will be his last season of the tournament.
Taking to Twitter, Rayudu said: "I am happy to announce that this will be my last IPL. I have had a wonderful time playing it and being a part of 2 great teams for 13 years. Would love to sincerely thank Mumbai Indians and CSK for the wonderful journey."
However, he later deleted the tweet. Chennai Super Kings CEO Kasi Viswanathan has now clarified that Rayudu is "not retiring."
"That's wrong news. He is not retiring," CSK CEO Viswanathan was quoted as saying by many news channels.
In the current season, the 36-year-old batter has scored 271 runs at a strike-rate of 124 and has been struggling with an injury.
He marked his IPL debut in 2010 with Mumbai Indians and has played as a middle-order batsman and part-time wicket-keeper till 2017 before he got picked up by CSK. (Inputs from UNI)
