Kolkata: Having played his part in Gujarat Titans' thrilling seven-wicket win over Rajasthan Royals in the IPL play-off here on Tuesday, a beaming Shubman Gill said Kolkata has always been nice to him.
"Kolkata has always been nice to me, and fortunately it was one of those nights," said Gill, who struck a 21-ball 35 that included five boundaries and a six as the Titans reached the tournament final.
He was also involved in a 72-run second-wicket stand with Matthew Wade in only 46 balls that repaired the innings after Wriddhiman Saha departed with nothing on the board.
"Nice to be in the final. Batting at Eden Gardens is an opportunity you look forward to," Gill said.
Gill, however, said that his side had expected the pitch to be a complete belter. But on the contrary, the "ball was holding up, and spinners were getting a grip". (UNI)
