Birmingham: Former world championships medallist boxer Amit Panghal assured a medal in men's 48kg-51kg Flyweight after entering the semifinal on Thursday.
Panghal outpunched Scotland's Lennon Mulligan in the quarterfinal. The 5:0 win on points for the 26-year-old assured the fourth medal for India at the Commonwealth Games 2022.
Former world No. 1 Panghal, who had to settle for a silver medal at Gold Coast 2018, will fight against Zambia's Patrick Chinyemba in the semifinal on Saturday.
Earlier, Nikhat Zareen, Nitu Ghanghas and Hassamuddin assured a medal for India after reaching the semifinal of their respective categories. (UNI)
