Thiruvananthapuram: Continuing his brilliant run in T20 cricket, Indian pacer Deepak Chahar claimed his second hat-trick inside three days during the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match between Rajasthan and Vidarbha, here on Tuesday. Chahar finished with brilliant figures of 4 for 18 in 3 overs which also included a hat-trick and a maiden over as Rajasthan restricted Vidarbha to 99 for 9 in 13 overs.
Chahar's hat-trick included the wickets of Darshan Nalkande, Shrikant Wagh and Akshay Wadkar, all of which came off the final three legitimate balls in the 13th over.
However, Deepak heroics (four wickets in an over) went in vain as Rajasthan went down by 1 run (via the VJD method) finishing with 105 for 8 in a game to reduced to 13 overs due to rain.
This was Chahar's second hat-trick in three days after his heroics in the Nagpur T20 international against Bangladesh on Sunday.
Earlier, Chahar registered the best-ever bowling figures by a bowler in the shortest format in international cricket with 6 wickets for 7 runs as India (174 for 5) defeated the visitors (144) by 30 runs in the final match to clinch the series 2-1 on Sunday.
While doing so, Chahar also picked up a hat-trick - the 1st by an Indian male cricketer in T20Is. He had also gone past Sri Lanka's Ajantha Mendis, who had figures of 6-8 against Zimbabwe in 2012.
Chahar's hat-trick was spread over 2 overs as he had removed Shafiul Islam on the last ball of the 18th over while he picked the wickets of Mustafizur Rahman and Aminul Islam in two consecutive balls of the last over. (UNI)
