ICC WC 2019: South Africa dents Sri Lanka’s hopes of reaching semis with 9-wicket win

Chester-le-Street: Hashim Amla 80 off 105 (5 fours), Faf du Plessis 96 off 103 (10 fours, 1 six) unbeaten and brilliant 175 run partnership between them for second wicket and fine bowling spell by Dwaine Pretorius 3/25, Chris Morris 3/46, Rabada 2/36 helped Proteas beat Sri Lanka by 9 wickets in the ICC Cricket World Cup on Friday.

Chasing 204 South Africa after losing one wicket easily scored 206 in 37.2 overs with 76 balls remaining.

Proteas who are already out of World Cup semis have won two from 8 matches with 5 points while Sri Lanka remain at 7th spot from 7 matches they have won 2 and have 6 points, but now they will have to win another two matches to stay alive for semi-final spot and keep a close watch on other teams results.
