Tokyo
: India's Aditi Ashok missed a medal narrowly after she finished fourth in the Tokyo Olympics women’s golf tournament, here on Friday.
Aditi carded three-under 68 in the final round and had a combined score of 15-under, just one shot off playing for the medal places.
However, this was the best finish of any Indian golfer at the Olympics Games.
Two-time Olympian Aditi Ashok had finished 41st at Rio 2016, where golf made a comeback to the Olympics.
Starting the day in second place, the Indian golfer was in medal contention for a major part of the day but the two bogeys pulled her back.
In the final round, she fired five birdies -- on the 5th, 6th, 8th, 13th and 14th holes -- against two bogeys on the 9th and 11th.
World No 1 Nelly Korda of the US clinched the Olympic gold medal with a 2-under 69 that left her 17-under overall.
Japan’s Mone Inami (65) won the silver medal and Lydia Ko (65) of New Zealand won the bronze.
The the silver and bronze medal winners were decided after a playoff as both of them finished regulation play with a score of 16-under.
Meanwhile, another Indian golfer and Olympic debutant Diksha Dagar finished tied-50th in the 60-member field with a combined 6-over.
She carded 1-under in the final round with four birdies and three bogeys.
