Kolkata: A footballer from Ivory Coast, identified as Kouadio Mathieu (24), died after he allegedly fell from a moving suburban train in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district on Saturday, official sources said.
A preliminary investigation said the footballer was injured after falling from the Sealdah (a vital station in Kolkata)-bound moving train in between Titagarh and Kharadha stations on Saturday afternoon.
He was admitted to the B N Bose hospital in Barrackpore, but succumbed to his injuries.
The passport found in his pocket identified him as a football player from Ivory Coast.
Dumdum Railway Police has started an investigation into the death of the player. (UNI)
