London: James Anderson, the seasoned pace maestro and England's leading wicket-taker in Test cricket, has declared that he will be bidding adieu to red-ball cricket following England's upcoming series against West Indies in July.

The announcement came via Anderson's social media handles, where the 41-year-old expressed his bittersweet sentiments about concluding his illustrious Test career. Having achieved the remarkable feat of 700 Test wickets during the Dharamsala Test against India earlier this year, Anderson reflected on his journey with heartfelt gratitude.

"I’m going to miss walking out for England so much. But I know the time is right to step aside and let others realise their dreams just like I got to, because there is no greater feeling," Anderson penned in his announcement.

Anderson, whose Test debut dates back to 2003 at Lord’s, has etched his name in cricketing history as one of the most prolific bowlers the sport has ever witnessed. With a remarkable tally of 700 wickets in 187 Tests, Anderson's prowess and longevity have earned him widespread acclaim.

"Thank you to everyone who has supported me over the years, it’s always meant a lot, even if my face often doesn’t show it. See you at the Test," Anderson's message concluded, acknowledging the unwavering support he has received throughout his career.

As England prepares to take on West Indies in a three-match ICC World Test Championship series in July, starting with the first Test at Lord's, Anderson's farewell fixture promises to be a poignant moment for cricket fans worldwide.
