New Delhi: A national-level cyclist lodged an FIR against national cycling coach RK Sharma for his inappropriate behaviour during a foreign exposure trip in Slovenia.
SAI, in its preliminary report submitted by its Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), stated that a prima facie case has been established against Sharma by validating the cyclist's allegations.
In a follow-up, SAI terminated Sharma's contract on June 8 with immediate effect. He was recommended to SAI by Cycling Federation of India.
The ICC allowed the athlete to lodge a police complaint. She was accompanied by two TOPS officers including a lady officer.
SAI earlier had stated that it would stand by the athlete's decision.
The Indian endurance contingent, consisting of five males and a female, flew to Slovenia on May 15 and were scheduled to return on June 14.
The training-cum-competition trip to Slovenia was arranged to help the Indian team prepare well for the Asian Track Cycling Championships, scheduled to be held in New Delhi from June 18 to 22. (UNI)
