With a throw of 89.94m at the Diamond League, the Indian Army Subedar broke his own national record of 89.30m which he set at the Paavo Nurmi Games held in Finland earlier this month.

Chopra's first throw which measured 89.94 m was the meet record, but was bettered by reigning world champion Anderson Peters of Grenada who threw 90.31m on his third attempt.

Chopra's other throws measured 84.37m, 87.46m, 84.77m, 86.67 and 86.84m.

Anderson Peters won the gold medal while Germany's Julian Weber took the bronze medal.

The prestigious one-day Diamond League meet is Chopra's biggest event ahead of the World Championships in Eugene, USA, which is coming up in July. (UNI)
