Ahmedabad: Considering the COVID-19 pandemic, Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) has decided to use only 50% capacity of the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad for the five T20 Internationals to be played here between India and England from March 12, 2021 to March 20, 2021. All the COVID-19 related precautions have been taken and all standard operating procedures (SOPs) are being followed.
“We are going to use only 50% seating capacity at the Narendra Modi Stadium for all the T20 International matches to be played here due to COVID-19 pandemic. Up to 50% tickets will be issued on the online and offline ticketing platforms for these matches,” said Shri Dhanraj Nathwani, Vice President, Gujarat Cricket Association.
The entire stadium has been sanitized considering safety of the spectators. All COVID-19 guidelines are being strictly adhered to and special task force committees have been set up to ensure that all required safety measures are implemented and followed.
Meanwhile, eyes also will be on Virat Kohli, who is on track to become the first men’s player to ever score 3000 T20I runs this series. He currently has 2928 to his name and it’d be a surprise if he did not fly past the 3000-mark against England.
India have only played three T20Is in the past 12 months, but with a home T20 World Cup around the corner, they’ll be looking to build up a head of steam. Expect the India captain to lead by example with the bat.
On the other hand, English batsman Dawid Malan sits atop the ICC T20I men’s batting rankings for a reason. He has scored more runs than anyone in the world in the format in the past 12 months, and he has been both reliable and aggressive. His 386 runs in that time have come at an average of 55.14 and strike rate of 144.56.
