Siraj, Iyer called for T20 squad for NZ series; Vijay named for Lanka Test

Mumbai: Mohammed Siraj and Shreyas Iyer have been included in Indian squad for three T20 matches to be played against New Zealand beginning from November 1, the BCCI announced on Monday.The Hyderabad pacer Siraj playing for India A, performed well during a recent tour of South Africa and against New Zealand."Mumbai batsman Iyer has also been quite impressive in all forms of the game," MSK Prasad, India's chairman of selectors, said here.
Iyer has put in consistent performances for India A over the last few months.He was the third-highest run-getter in the tri-series against South Africa A and Afghanistan A, with 213 runs in five matches.

Meanwhile, for the three Test match series, the squad was also announced on Monday with Murali Vijay making a place in the squad.Vijay did not take part in the last Test series against Sri Lanka due to hand injury and some other fitness related issues.Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja are also in the longer version with Kuldeep Yadav being the third specialist spinner.

Senior speedsters Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Shami and Ishant Sharma are back in the squad for the five-day format along with Test specialists Cheteshwar Pujara and Wriddhiman Saha.Nehra, who will retire after the first T20 game on November 1, has been picked for only that game scheduled in his home ground of Delhi.
