Pokhara:Indian athletes started on a impressive note at the 13th South Asian Games (SAG) winning 4 medals in the triathlon event on the opening day of the competitions here on Monday. India won 1 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze.
MN Sinimol began the proceedings providing India its first yellow metal with a timing of 01:02.51 secs in the men's triathlon while fellow countryman Bishworjit Srikhom bagged silver clocking 01:02:59 secs and bronze went to Nepal's Basanta Tharu.
In the women's individual event India's Sorojini Devi fetched silver with 01:14:00 secs while gold was won by Sony Gurung of Nepal and another Indian Mohan Pragnya settled for bronze with a timing of 01:14:57 secs.
A strong contingent of 487 Indian athletes are here to prove their mettle in more than 15 sporting disciplines. (UNI)
