Tokyo Olympics: India's medal hopes in archery ends after Atanu Das loses in round of 16

Tokyo: India’s hope of winning a medal in archery at the Tokyo Olympics ended as the last remaining archer Atanu Das lost in the men’s individual event on Saturday.
Atanu lost to London 2012 silver medalist Takaharu Furukawa of Japan 6-4 in a nail biter in the round of 16 here at the Yumenoshima Park Archery Field.
 
Atanu Das was the last Indian archer left at Tokyo 2020 as his teammates Pravin Jadhav and Tarundeep Rai lost in the round of 32 of the men’s individual event. The men’s team comprising all the three was knocked out in the quarter-finals by eventual winner South Korea.
 
The mixed team of Pravin Jadhav and Deepika Kumari, also lost before the semi-finals. Atanu's wife Deepika Kumari's campaign in the individual event also ended in the quarter finals on Friday.(UNI)
