At least 56 objects, including batteries, blades, nails, and other metal particles, were removed from the stomach of a teenager from Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, after he complained of stomach pain. However, 15-year-old died a day after the major surgery.

Aditya, a Class 9 student, had recently complained of severe stomach pain and breathing difficulties.

He was initially admitted to a hospital in Hathras and then in Jaipur, which discharged him after brief treatment.

However, when Aditya’s symptoms resurfaced, his family took him to a hospital in Aligarh where a surgery was performed to remove a lump in his nose to alleviate his breathing.

Although the breathing issue was resolved, his stomach pain persevered. This prompted an ultrasound, which revealed 19 foreign objects in his stomach, following which the doctors referred him to a hospital in Noida.

At the Noida hospital, a scan revealed the presence of about 56 metal fragments in his body. Alarmed by the situation, the family took the boy to Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital, where a major surgery was performed on October 27.

The boy died a day after the surgery, as his heart rate spiked and his blood pressure dropped alarmingly, his father Sanchit Sharma said.

The Aditya’s family and the doctors are equally mystified as to how these items ended up in his stomach. There were no signs of injury in his mouth or throat to suggest that he ingested the items either deliberately or accidentally.
