In a shocking incident, police have detained two minor students for allegedly killing the wife and two minor daughters of their teacher, a local cleric, in the Doghat area of Baghpat district of Uttar Pradesh, officials said on Sunday.
According to police reports, the accused boys — students of cleric Mohd Ibrahim — attacked his family using a hammer and a knife on Saturday. The minors allegedly committed the crime out of anger, claiming they were frequently scolded and beaten by the cleric.
At the time of the attack, Ibrahim had gone to Saharanpur to attend a welcome ceremony for Afghanistan’s foreign minister, police said.
The horrific incident came to light when some children arrived at the mosque for daily lessons and discovered the bodies of Ibrahim’s wife, Israna (30), and their daughters, Sofia (5) and Sumaiya (2), inside the cleric’s residence located within the mosque premises in Gangnauli village.
Superintendent of Police Suraj Kumar Rai confirmed that both minors have been detained for questioning, and further investigation is underway.
Police said the bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, and appropriate legal action will follow based on the investigation’s findings.
