Baghpat: The chat street in Uttar Pradesh's Baghpat suddenly turned into a war zone as two shopkeepers started thrashing each other with lathis in a bid to lure customers. Two groups clashed over a minor issue which left many people injured. The scene created a ruckus at the marketplace. Police have arrested 8 people from both the group.
The incident occurred at the badot area where Athiti marketplace is situated. The place is known as a one-stop destination for having snacks like pakoda and samosa. Suddenly two shopkeepers and their aides turned violent while insisting customers buy chats from their specific shops.
The matter escalated and both the group were seen hitting each other with lathis. The public at large panicked and distanced themselves from the action and recorded the video of the incident.
The video recorded by a person went viral where the duo can be seen swirling sticks at each other. The police have taken 8 people under custody and injured people are being treated at the hospital. (WD)
