A janitor (cleaning staff) at a Houston medical facility has been sentenced to six years in prison for urinating in women staff's water bottles, resulting in several women contracting herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1).
Lucio Catarino Diaz, 52, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after committing the crimes in the summer of 2022 at a doctor's office along the East Freeway.
The deadly weapon, prosecutors say, was Diaz's urine.
The incident came to light when a female employee noticed a strange smell and taste in the water from the office's shared water dispenser. She later detected the same foul odor in her personal water bottle, which led her to set up a hidden camera that captured Diaz urinating into her water bottle.
In the video, the janitor Lucio was seen opening her water bottle, which was placed on her desk, unzipping his pants, removing his penis from his pants, and placing the head of his penis (bare) into her water bottle, causing the entire mouth of the water bottle to touch his penis," reads her complaint.
The video then showed Diaz putting the cap back on the bottle and returned it to the desk.
This disgusting incident happened again the following night, according to the complaint.
Diaz's actions have infected at least 13 women with herpes and hepatitis A. He will be eligible for parole after serving three years and will not have to register as a sex offender.
