Drishyam-Style Murder in Nalasopara: Woman Kills, Hides Husband’s Body Under Tiles, Flees With Lover

In a shocking and gruesome incident straight out of a crime thriller, a 28-year-old woman from Palghar district of Maharashtra allegedly murdered her husband with the help of her lover and buried his body under the floor tiles of their home in Nalasopara East, about 70 km from Mumbai.

The victim, Vijay Chavan, 35, had been missing for the past 15 days. Concerned by his sudden disappearance, Vijay’s brothers, who live in Bilalpada, went to his house in search of him on Monday morning.

Suspicious Tiles Lead to Grim Discovery

When Vijay’s brothers entered the house, they noticed something odd — certain floor tiles looked freshly laid and didn’t match the rest of the flooring. Suspicion turned to horror when they removed the tiles and discovered a piece of clothing — a vest — and were hit by a foul odour. They immediately informed the local police.

On digging deeper, police discovered Vijay’s decomposed body buried under the newly installed tiles, confirming everyone’s worst fears.

Wife and Her Alleged Lover Missing

The prime suspect in the murder is Vijay’s wife, Komal Chavan, who has also been missing for the past two days. Along with her, Monu, a neighbour who is suspected to be her lover, has also disappeared. The police believe the two were in a romantic relationship and conspired together to carry out the murder.

Police sources suggest the murder appears to be premeditated. The way the body was buried inside the house — concealed under floor tiles — bears eerie similarities to the plot of the Bollywood movie Drishyam, where a murder is similarly covered up.

Police Investigation Underway

“We suspect Komal and her partner plotted the murder and then tried to hide the evidence by burying the body inside the house. We are investigating all angles, including a possible love affair as the motive,” said a senior officer from the Palghar police.

A manhunt has been launched to trace Komal and Monu. Investigations are ongoing.
