Ahmedabad: Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) leader Hardik Patel on Monday took out a road show here, even as the city police denied permission to BJP and Congress, for holding roadshows of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi, respectively."The real climax will be in the afternoon as more and more are joining us," Mr Patel told reporters here, as he took out a roadshow from Bopal to Guma."I always expected the support.....because I tell the truth. I do not know whether this support will translate into votes, but people are supporting us," he said.Mr Patel, who has extended support to the Congress, also said, "the movement (that he has undertaken) will continue, irrespective of whether BJP or Congress comes to power".

Meanwhile, on Monday, City Police Commissioner Anup Kumar Singh said the requests for rallies by BJP and Congress were rejected "due to security, law and order reasons, and to avoid public inconvenience."BJP had sought permission for the roadshow on Tuesday from Bapu Nagar area in the city, while the Congress wanted police nod for its roadshow for Mr Gandhi from the Jagannath temple to Menco area, police said here.

As the campaigning for second phase of Gujarat polls will come to a close on Tuesday evening, both Congress and BJP have stepped up their high-decibel campaign.
After the first phase of polls on December 9, remaining 93 seats will go for voting on December 14 in central and north Gujarat. In the first phase, 66.74 per cent turnout was registered, which was lower than the voting turnout of 2012 in Saurashtra, Kutch and South Gujarat. On Monday, Mr Modi will be addressing three rallies, while Congress has organsied four rallies for Mr Gandhi. (UNI)
