Thane: An old man well over 75 had a miraculous escape at Kalyan railway station when a locomotive of an express train which started came to a sudden halt above him, the railways said in an official release here.
A video showing the old man being pulled out of below the locomotive safely has gone viral on social media within minutes. It also shows the old man walking away after his life was saved.
The release said, Railway Alert:- Loco Pilot S.K. Pradhan and Asst.Loco Pilot Ravi Shankar G of Mumbai-Varanasi train (02193) applied emergency brakes immediately after starting train from Kalyan station PF.4 and saved life of a senior citizen who was crossing tracks at Kalyan station. Santosh Kumar, Chief Permanent Way Inspector (CPWI)/Kalyan shout to caution them.
The release also added, Please do not cross tracks in an unauthorized manner. It can be fatal.
The release further said that Alok Kansal, General Manager, Central Railway announced on the spot cash award of ?2,000/- each to LP, ALP and CPWI (Chief Permanent Way Inspector) for their timely act of saving the precious life of human being. (UNI)
