An 18-year-old man was arrested by Surat police after performing dangerous stunts with his Mercedes C220 on Dumas Beach, causing the car to get stuck in the water. The vehicle was later recovered with the help of a crane.
The incident was captured on video, showing the red Mercedes C220, with the registration number GJ05 JH-5155, partially submerged in the sea. A heavy-duty crane was seen working to lift the car, while onlookers filmed the scene as ropes were tied around the vehicle for the recovery.
Reports suggest that Sejan Salim Chamdia, the car’s owner, drove the vehicle too close to the shoreline, despite clear restrictions against vehicles near the beach. Police arrested Chamdia in connection with the stunt.
Confirming the arrest, Police Inspector N.V. Bharwad of the Dumas Police Station stated that a case had been filed under Section 281 of the IPC and Sections 184 and 177 of the Motor Vehicles Act, as driving in the restricted area is prohibited.
The police also reported the incident to the car’s insurance company to ensure the claim would not be approved. Inspector Bharwad emphasized, “The car was driven into a prohibited zone, which led to the incident. We have taken necessary action to discourage such violations.”
