In a tragic incident, a 21-year-old man in Karnataka died after drinking five bottles of liquor neat over a Rs 10,000 bet with his friends.
The incident took place in the Kolar district.
Karthik, the deceased, had told his friends Venkata Reddy, Subramani, and three others that he could drink five bottles of liquor without mixing water. Venkata Reddy had promised to give him Rs 10,000 if he could do that.
Karthik downed the five bottles but became critically ill soon after. He was rushed to a hospital at Mulbagal but he succumbed during treatment.
Karthik had been married for just a year, and his wife had given birth to their baby only eight days back.
The Nangali police station has filed a case against six people, including Venkata Reddy and Subramani. Both have been arrested, and the police are searching for the other accused.
