In a shocking incident, Shiv Sena Punjab leader Sandeep Thapar Gora was attacked with swords by ‘Nihang Sikhs’ in Ludhiana, Punjab.

Thapar suffered serious head injuries. He was taken to the Civil Hospital and from there he was referred to DMC under critical conditions.

Police have started an investigation into the matter.

On Friday morning, Sandeep, along with his gunman, came to attend the death anniversary ceremony of Ravinder Arora, president of Samvedna Trust, which runs the Civil Hospital.

As per the police, four youths dressed as Nihang Sikhs, who were allegedly waiting outside, attacked him with swords, causing injuries to his head. The accused then fled the spot.

His gunman claimed that Nihangs overpowered him and tried to snatch his gun because of which he was unable to react.

The CCTV footage of the brutal attack shows the accused followed Thapar on foot as he exited the hospital with his gunman riding pillion. They confronted him and Thapar was seen begging for mercy with folded hands before one of the attackers started hitting him repeatedly on the head with the sword. Thapar lost his balance and fell on the road along with the scooter when another nihang continued attacking him with a sword.

After the attack, Hindu leaders protested at the Civil Hospital against the police administration.
