Hyderabad: A gym trainer was reportedly assaulted by police constables when he refused to come to the police station at Mettuguda area of Secunderabad under Chilkalguda police station on Sunday night.
The alleged incident occurred when four constables came to the gym trainer Arogya Raj's house at 2300 hours and asked him to come to the police station with them to enquiry a complaint lodged against him over a bike issue on June 3. But he (Gym Trainer) refused to come to the police station because of late night and urged the police to come to the police station on Monday morning.
Police constables who got angry reportedly attacked him with a stick. When locals came to rescue him, the constables left the place. Arogya Raj who got a leg fracture was admitted to a nearby private hospital for treatment.
The video went viral on social media. The opposition Congress condemned the incident and demanded action against the policemen involved.
However, a senior police official refuted Arogya’s claims and said the man was drunk and abused the police personnel. Besides, the official said the man damaged the vehicles when the police team went there to catch him following information that the man fought with his neighbour. (Inputs from agencies)
