WATCH - Sr Twitter engineer admits to Left bias on platform
, Tuesday, 17 May 2022 (14:36 IST)
San Francisco: A video on Tuesday showing a senior engineer from Twitter confessing to Twitter's far left leanings and its opposition to any and all right wing material has gone viral.

Engineer Siru Murugesan was filmed by a female Project Veritas journalist on April 28 spilling the beans on Twitter's left-wing agenda, including their heavy censorship and crackdown on all right wing or anti left posts.

In the video, Murugesan can be heard saying “Twitter does not believe in free speech. Elon believes in free speech. He's a capitalist and we weren't really operating as capitalists, more like very socialist....”

“Ideologically, it does not make sense, because we're actually censoring the Right and not the Left. So, everyone on the right-wing will be like, 'bro, it's okay to stay, just gotta tolerate it. The left will be like, no, I'm not gonna tolerate it. I need it censored or else I'm not gonna be on the platform,” he said.

The revelation comes amid Elon Musk's stalled purchase of Twitter.

In the past, Twitter has been accused of being too 'woke' and far left leaning only promoted left wing content while censoring all right wing content.

When asked how the staff felt when Musk had almost bought Twitter, the engineer said: “They hate it. Oh my God. I am at least like okay with it. But some of my colleagues are like super left, left, left, left, left. They are like this would be my last day if this happens.”

Murugesan said: "Twitter's office politics were so left-leaning they shaped his own views, and changed him.”

"Like I started working at Twitter and became left,” he said. “I think it's just like the environment, like you're there and you become like this....”

Murugesan said that right-wingers were openly censored. Musk has been highly critical of Twitter's policies in the past, complaining that while people like Donald Trump have been removed from Twitter, extremists have been permitted to stay.

Musk who is the CEO of both Space X and Tesla bought the micro-blogging for $44 billion. The deal is currently on hold. This delay has been subject to the estimation that an approximation of at least 5 per cent of users on the micro-blogging platform giant are spam/fake. This led to a sudden crash in the value of the Twitter stock. (UNI)
