Mumbai: Police detains suspect in Saif Ali Khan attack case

Mumbai: The Bandra Police on Friday detained a suspect in connection with the knife attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan at his residence in Bandra (West).

According to police sources, police had not made any arrest but only detained a suspect, who is being questioned.

Sources said that footage of the suspect was obtained from a CCTV camera installed outside the residence of the actor.

Police, however, refused to give further details.

A team of crime branch has also reached Bandra police station which is parallelly conducting a probe with the local police and the team is also questioning the suspect.

Saif Ali Khan was stabbed by an intruder at his high-rise apartment in Bandra early on Thursday morning.

Khan who suffered serious injuries was admitted to Lilavati Hospital and had undergone a successful surgery.

Dixit Gedam, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Zone 9 of Mumbai Police, said that burglary was the motive behind the attack and as per the investigation it has been discovered that the accused used the fire escape steps to enter the house of the actor.

'We are making every effort to arrest the accused and gather important information. Soon the accused will be arrested and we will be able to disclose further details" he further said.

There are 10 detection teams working in different directions but no one has been arrested so far in connection with the case,Gedam added.
