Bollywood singer Shankar Mahadevan is set to perform at the ‘Khasdar Sanskrutik Mahotsav’ on Monday, as part of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s (RSS) centenary celebrations.
Speaking to the media ahead of his performance, Mahadevan expressed gratitude to the organisers and the RSS for inviting him again, recalling his earlier appearance at the same festival in Nagpur in September.
He said his aim was to introduce patriotic songs to younger generations and inspire them through music.
“Today is a special day. I have been invited to the Khasdar Sanskrutik Mahotsav. I will be presenting Ajraamar Sangh Geet, a collection of 10 songs I have sung on the completion of 100 years of RSS, along with other patriotic songs. The goal is to spread patriotic music among the youth,” Mahadevan said.
The RSS is marking its 100th year in 2025. During the Vijayadashami 2025 celebrations, the organisation commemorated its centenary with grand events in Nagpur and across India.
On the occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the Sangh’s contribution to nation-building.
“From its very inception, the RSS has devoted itself to nation-building through character-building,” PM Modi wrote in his blog.
“Vyakti nirmaan se rashtra nirmaan, from personal development to nation-building, has been the Sangh’s path. This is implemented through the unique and enduring mechanism of the daily shakha, where every swayamsevak begins the journey from ‘Me to We’ through personal transformation.”
Founded in 1925 by Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar in Nagpur, the RSS is a volunteer-based organisation aimed at fostering cultural awareness, discipline, service, and social responsibility among citizens.
