Zia Orphanage Trust case: HC extends Khaleda's jail term

Dhaka: The High Court here on Tuesday increased Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) chief Khaleda Zia's jail term to 10 years from five years in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.

 
Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman came up with decision after the Anti-Corruption Commission filed a petition seeking the extension of her jail term to life term. The HC also rejected Khaleda's lawyers' petition for her acquittal in an appeal.

On February 8, Judge Md Akhtaruzzaman jailed the former Prime Minister for five years imprisonment and her son Tarique Rahman and four others for 10 years.(UNI)
