Palakkad:Two persons were arrested here on Friday morning in connection with the gunning down of Special Sub-Inspector (SSI) of police from Tamil Nadu Y Wilson at Padanthaalumoodu checkpost in Kaniyakumari district on Kerala-Tamil Nadu border on Wednesday night.
Reports said the two taken into custody were Kanyakumari natives ---M Thoufique and A Abdul Shameem, both belonging to a radical organization whose photos were released by the Q Branch of Tamil Nadu police as suspects behind the crime.
The CCTV images had helped the police in identifying the assailants who fled from the scene after opening fire at Wilson at point-blank range. The official died on the spot.
Having escaped to Kerala, as indicative from the footages, the Kerala Police had announced a reward for those who would divulge information of the two assailants having terror links.
A combined team of the Kerala and Tamil Nadu police personnel investigating the case strongly believed that the killing had been executed by an extremist organisation.(UNI)
