Dense fog predicted over northern parts of India

Pune: Dense fog at isolated pockets very likely over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and north Madhya Pradesh.

Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning, hail at isolated places very likely over Uttarakhand and Bihar; Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning at isolated places over east Uttar Pradesh, east Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

Strong wind (speed reaching 40-50 kmph) very likely over Gulf of Mannar and Comorin Area. Fishermen are advised not to venture into these sea areas during next 24 hours.

Night temperatures were appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at isolated places over east Madhya Pradesh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands; above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at many places over west Madhya Pradesh; at a few places over coastal Karnataka; at isolated places over east Rajasthan.

They were appreciably below normal (- 3.1°C to -5.0°C) at many places over Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha and Vidarbha; at a few places over Rayalaseema; at isolated places over Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Jharkhand, Telangana, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam; below normal (-1.6°C to -3.0°C) at most places over south interior Karnataka; at many places over Bihar; at a few places over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Sub Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura; at isolated places over Punjab, Assam, Meghalaya, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal and near normal over rest parts of the country.

The lowest minimum temperature of 4.4°C reported at Hissar (Haryana) over the plains of the country.

Fog (observed at 0830 hrs IST of today): Very dense fog at isolated pockets over west Rajasthan; Dense fog at isolated pockets over Haryana; Shallow to moderate fog at isolated pockets over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi, east Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

Visibility (recorded at 0830 IST of today) (500 metre or less): Churu-25 m; Hissar-50 m; Mandi, Sundernagar, Tehri and Sabaur-200 m each; Jodhpur, Delhi (Palam) and Fursatganj-500 m each.

Rain or thundershowers have occurred at most places in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand and at many places in west Uttar Pradesh and Haryana and at a few places in Punjab and at isolated places in east Uttar Pradesh, Jammu-Kashmir, east Rajasthan and west Madhya Pradesh.

Mainly dry weather has prevailed in west Rajasthan, east Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh. (UNI)
