Lucknow: President Ram Nath Kovind on Friday said traffic should not be halted for long due to VVIP movement as it causes problems for people.
Addressing a function at the Manoj Pandey UP Sainik School here, Mr Kovind said, 'Apart from being the President of the country, I am also a sensitive citizen. Often when I go on a trip, I find that traffic is stopped long before my arrival there, which causes problems for people. This hurts me."
"People also get annoyed and frustrated with traffic snarls, although it is the responsibility of the administration that they discharge their duty promptly," he said.
"I suggest that whenever there is a VIP event, the traffic should be stopped only for 10 to 15 minutes. Stopping traffic too early is not a good thing. Along with this, it should also be thought that there should be no obstruction to ambulances or emergency vehicles. Not only me, if the CM's fleet is running, then you can stop them and take the ambulance forward," he said. (UNI)
