Vijayawada:The destruction of idols of Hindu deities continued unabated in Andhra Pradesh as the idol of goddess Sita devi was found destroyed in Sitarama temple located at Pandit Nehru bus complex here on Sunday.
The priest of the temple found the idol of goddess Sita devi was found vandalized and complained this to the police. Circle Inspector Satyanand visited the temple and started investigation. He said the CCTV footage would be examined to find out whether miscreants destroyed the idol.
Meanwhile, activists of Hindu organisations staged a dharna at the temple in protest against the alleged destruction of the idol. Telugu Desam Party official spokesperson Pattabhi visited the temple.
The TDP leader was seen arguing with the Inspector when he said that animals might have caused the destruction of the idol. The TDP leader argued with the Inspector on how he could come to such a conclusion without examining the CCTV footage.
Former Minister and TDP senior leader Devineni Umamaheshwar Rao alleged that the YSRCP government designed the attacks on temples and destruction of idols of deities to divert its failures. TDP MLC Buddha Venkanna also condemned the incident alleging that there is no security to even idols of gods in the YSRCP regime.(UNI)
