Thane: A 77 year old temple priest from Suchak Naka of Kalyan has been today arrested by the police on the alleged charges of molesting a housewife the police said today.
API Mrs. SS Rajput of the Kolsewadi police station under Kalyan division told this correspondent that the alleged accused Gopal Tambe has been booked under section 354 of the IPC the police said.
According to the complaint by the victim aged 28 her neighbours advised her to approach the priest as she was suffering from headache and he was curing the ill.
It was yesterday afternoon the victim along with her husband went to the temple and approached the priest for the treatment. The priest first took both of them inside the temple room and later sent the husband out to purchase fruits for "Prasad".
When the husband had gone out the priest grabbed the opportunity and passed lewd comments on the woman and also molested and touched her inappropriately.
As if this was not not enough he also asked her not not to bring her husband with her next time she comes, the complaint by the victim with the police last night stated.(UNI)
