On the night of Diwali, a shocking theft took place in Shiv Nagar Colony of Vidisha, Madhya Pradesh. Thieves broke into the house of advocate Niranjan Vishwakarma and stole gold and silver jewellery along with cash worth around Rs 35 lakh. What’s most surprising is that the thieves took away the jewellery and cash that had been placed in front of Goddess Lakshmi during the Diwali puja.

According to reports, the Vishwakarma family, residents of Ward No. 36 near Abhinandan Garden under the Civil Lines police station area, performed Lakshmi Puja at around 10 PM on Monday night. They had placed gold and silver ornaments along with Rs 7,000 in cash before the goddess as offerings. After the puja, all family members went to sleep around 1 AM.

Around 5 AM, one of the family members woke up and was shocked to find the house ransacked. The puja plate was empty, with all jewellery and cash missing. The family immediately informed the police.

Upon receiving the information, CSP Atul Singh and Station In-charge R.K. Mishra reached the spot with a police team. A dog squad and fingerprint experts were called in for investigation. Police are currently scanning CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify the culprits.
