Three foreign militants killed by security forces in an encounter

Srinagar: Three foreign militants were killed by security forces in an encounter on Monday morning in the frontier district of Kupwara, official sources said.They said on a tip off about the presence of some militants Army, Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police and paramilitary forces launched a joint search operation at Unsoo, Handwara, in north Kashmir district of Kupwara in the wee hours.

Despite wet weather, security forces sealed all exit point very early in the morning, they said adding when the troops were moving towards a particular area in Unsoo, militants resorted to indiscriminate firing with automatic weapons.Security forces also retaliated, ensuing a fierce encounter, they said adding exchange of fire was going on when the reports last came in. Three militants were killed in the encounter, they said adding the firing has stopped though search operation continued in the area. 

Director General of Police (DGP) Dr S P Vaid also confirmed the death of three militants in the encounter. Good job by the boys despite raining since last night, he said.(UNI)
